Who On Gods Green Earth Is Tariq Amin??

Tariq Amin graduated with a Business degree from Lynn University (formerly the College of Boca Raton), Florida in 1983. He boldly embraced his artistic instincts and ventured into the world of design and creativity.  His initial apprenticeship was at Bruno Dessange in Washington DC. Over the past two and a half decades he has trained at various institutions; Toni &Guy, Graham Webb International, Vidal Sassoon, I Natural, Glauca Rossi, Trevor Sorbie and Wella.

Tariq Amin has been part of the Pakistani fashion industry for the past 30 years.  He began his career in Karachi when fashion, style and hairdressing were not part of mainstream life.  He was the harbinger of things to come.  Tariq was the first person to establish the concept of “stylist” which created a platform for others to aspire to.

1983 to 1988 Shaheen’s – Stylist

Tariq emerged as a pioneer on Pakistan’s landscape of image and styling.  His influence caused a tumultuous and seismic shift in the way the fashion industry was viewed.. 25 years ago he had a bold vision for the future, and he took brave steps to put into place a cultural metamorphosis in this fledgling industry, the reverberations of which can still be felt today. His first big break came when he did Benazir Bhuttos make up for her wedding in 1987, landing his work on the pages of Vogue.

1988 to 1993 Ravissant – Senior Stylist

Tariq’s reputation grew exponentially and this led him to experiment and expand his skills beyond his coiffing.  His repertoire became broader, his reach became wider to include a loyal clientele that spanned the nation.  To mark a decade of success, he launched Sana Safinaz with a commemorative show entitled “LIFE”, outlining his career and establishing himself as the nation’s lead image consultant, and he became an icon: “Pakistan’s first lifestyle merchant” (Herald).  His name was already synonymous with the fashion industry.  The faces of fame and fortune; the divas and doyennes of society graced the runway of life. In 1990 he won the first Sunsilk Hairdressing Award.

1993 to 2007 Fusion – Creative Director

Tariq Amin launched his own company. He developed a powerful and indomitable brand name synonymous with distinction, elegance and a cutting edge style.  Under that banner he established his first solo venture in Islamabad in 1993.  This was followed by Karachi in 1997 with “ A fetish for beauty”.  “It filled the mind with images of Gaultier, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood.” (The News).

In 1999, Lahore was added to the list at the CARE charity ball and TIGI Linea was introduced to Pakistan.  This association was the first of it’s kind in the region.

In 2002 Tariq Amin won Best Stylist at the first Lux Style Awards.

In 2005 he cofounded Indispensable Communications, for talent management and image consultancy for musicians, the first of it’s kind in Pakistan’s music industry, to encourage up and coming young talent.

From 2007 to date, Tariq Amin  has endorsed Sunsilk in one of it’s most successful campaigns, giving his 25 year career it’s crowning glory.

He has been working and using his expertise in the field of hairdressing and make up for various print and electronic media throughout this time.  He has worked with the best designers nationally and internationally. Film stars, politicians and media moguls are part of his daily life, but Tariq insists that real people who value his honest, no-nonsense approach are the ones who have been instrumental in his success.  His personalized attention is and experience rather than a visit to the salon.  A metamorphosis is the least one should expect.  Tariq is a recognized name. He has evolved as a personality in his own right.

In his epic career spanning two and a half decades, Tariq Amin has been confident enough to create his own competition.   Always imparting an exacting standard of excellence to his protégés, Tariq’s loyal client base flock to him for his unique flair, despite the long waiting list. Tariq is an “ideas” person.  His mind is constantly constructing.  His passion for his work is what has singled him out .Tariq’s vision for the future includes an academy and a franchise, both of which will include his brand name.
